Discordance Axis & Melt-Banana (USA & Japan) - Split 7" (1995)

Photobucket Tracklist: Melt-Banana 1. Buddhism Core 2. Hangnail (Let it Go) 3. No One Wants Next One 4. Sicklist On Fire 5. One Dimensional (aka One-D, Discordance Axis cover) 6. Not D, But M, Also S Discordance Axis 7. Information Sniper 8. Amphetamine Hollow Tip 9. Tokyo 10. So Unfilial Rule (Melt-Banana cover) 11. Junk Utopia 12. Continuity Total playing time 08:35

Discordance Axis and Melt-Banana first met on a DA Japan tour around 1994 (not sure about the year), and I guess they became friends haha. A great example of this is Dave Witte who drummed a lot for MB (amongst his other 983274 bands) since Sudoh left. Anyway, Melt-Banana is a unique Japanese experimental noise rock/hardcore punk band, in a lack for better words, but what matters is that it's fast and highly original. Even though the guitar riffs are usually totally weird and don't even sound like an actual guitar 'cause Agata (the guitar player) uses a shitload of effects pedals for shaping the sounds, quite probably the first thing that most people notice is Yasuko O.'s crazy high-pitched vocals which sound like a squirell on drugs. The Discordance Axis side features songs that appear Ulterior and Jouhou, with relatively clear production this time. Good stuff, as always (I have nothing smart to add, really). What makes this split especially interesting is, as you might have noticed, MB covering a DA song and DA covering a MB song. Melt-Banana covers One-D from "Ulterior" while Discordance Axis covers So Unfilial Rule from "Speak Squeak Creak". Also, I remember reading how Jon Chang (DA) said he liked both covered songs more than the originals haha.

Obviously I'm posting stuff chronologically, so you might have noticed that I missed one split, and that's the one with Def Master. Why? Because I haven't even heard it and I don't have it, not the 7" nor just audio files. In case someone happens to have it in any form - leave a comment / send me an e-mail or something, and I will tell you where you can find the remaining dragon balls! EDIT: I got that 7" in the meantime. Might post it in the future.
