Discordance Axis & Corrupted & 324 (USA & 2X Japan) - Universal Century Series Termination Split (2001)

Photobucket Tracklist: Discordance Axis 1. Ikaruga 2. Berserk Corrupted 3. Bloodscape 4. Bougyaku No Basyo 324 5. Terminal Chamber 6. Prismrider 7. Just Sit There (Crumbsuckers cover) Total playing time 28:20

ere it is, the last DA split release. And what a great one it is, with all 3 bands probably being among the best in their genres! Oh and I love the cover art. Ikaruga is a lovely seizure-inducing thrash assault. In fact, I'd call this hyper-speed thrash metal. Coupled with the video, it's the kind of thing that makes you want to self-destruct. I just want my head to explode. Now, turn the volume up, 'cause Berserk is probably the complete opposite of what you'd expect when you think about the word "berserk". So what does this sound like? It's like the short moment before a robot goes berserk for whatever reason, stretched into 5 minutes. Or if you were a cyborg and you had a huge pounding headache this is probably how it would sound inside your head. I'd like to hear more theories haha.

EDIT: Oh hey, I think I might actually know where this could be from! A sound similar to Berserk can be heard in Ikaruga (the actual Dreamcast game) when there's no music and you're not shooting - like during the in-game tutorial.

After 6 minutes of DA is 17 minutes of Corrupted, delivering total fucking doom as slowly as they can. Corrupted take up most of the time on this split. In the end there's another grindcore band, albeit a quite different one. Let's just say that the guys from 324 know where grindcore comes from. Nothing really new, but it's done exactly how it should be done. This can still be bought, most likely directly from HG Fact, but also from some other places as an import, like AllThatIsHeavy. And that's pretty much it for DA releases, unless I get a hold of the split with Def Master. I'm planning a big DA tribute kind of post next, so that should be pretty interesting for fans and any other people that haven't yet realized what the best grindcore band ever is. In other news: I added a Wishlist on the right side of the blog, so feel free to contact me about that. ;)
